04:05 pm - It's Alive! horror zine
Hi guys,

I posted here almost a year back about a horror zine I was putting together. Unfortunately life got in the way and it never got made. Well, it's getting made now.

It's called 'It's Alive!' and it will probably be a one-off zine, hopefully out by February.

It's very much in the early stages at the moment, but if anybody would like to contribute that would be great.

As I'm only just getting started on it, I can't give an exact description of what I'm looking for, but I'm hoping it will turn out to be a fun and witty zine for horror fans, full of film reviews (classics, b-movies and modern), interviews and a few other horror related features such as reviews of ghost walks, the scariest places to visit in the UK, scary stories etc. Here's one of my film reviews that will be going in, to give you an idea of what to expect.

If you've got anything you think might fit in, please drop me an email to siobhanlouise@gmail.com and I'll get straight back to you.

Additionally, if you think It's Alive! sounds interesting and you want to order a copy or find out more about it, send me an email to siobhanlouise@gmail.com, or sign up to my blog for updates.

Thanks guys!

(x-posted, sorry!)

How have none of you fuckers posted about this yet? If you're sick of X Factor wishy washy crap in your xmas no 1 for yet another year then why not join the movement to get classic Rage Against The Machine tracking Killing in the Name of into the number one? It's had lots of sales and press attention. More story here:

03:01 pm - Statistics for Paid Accounts
Statistics are here!

You can now see the number of people who have visited your journal, your individual entries, a chart of comments, readers of the RSS feed of your journal, and the last 100 logged-in users who have visited your journal directly (if you've enabled My Guests).

Things you should know:
-Stats are completely anonymous (only My Guests is tied to username); only numbers are recorded, not any other information
-The times and dates in the graph are based on server time, which is UTC/GMT
-The light grey number at the top left corner of the graph is the statistical outlier
-While the graph may go back in time to this summer, the stats-gathering server was not on constantly, so previous stats may be missing. Today, and going forward, full stats are collected and displayed.
-If you opt out of My Guests (meaning that your username will not show up on other people's reports and you will not be able to view your My Guests tab), it does not affect your use of the rest of the Stats - if you're a Paid or Permanent user, you'll still be able to see all the rest of the information on this feature

Hi!
Kind of a nasty health thing, sorry - just curious what happened to other people on here.
Did any of you have the swine flu jab? If so did you get a nasty big red lump on your arm that hurts like crazy and itches? How long did it last for if so?
I'm wondering if I've got some kind of allergic reaction...I was told my arm might be a bit sore, that's all.

10:51 pm - Climategate - the stuff finally hits the fan
DOE sends a “litigation hold notice” regarding CRU to employees – asking to “preserve documents”.

DOE-SR has received a “Litigation Hold Notice” from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) General Council and the DOE Office of Inspector General regarding the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia in England. Accordingly, they are requesting that SRNS, SRR and other Site contractors locate and preserve all documents, records, data, correspondence, notes, and other materials, whether official or unofficial, original or duplicative, drafts or final versions, partial or complete that may relate to the global warming, including, but not limited to, the contract files, any related correspondence files, and any records, including emails or other correspondence, notes, documents, or other material related to this contract, regardless of its location or medium on which it is stored. In other words, please preserve any and all documents relevant to “global warming, the Climate Research Unit at he University of East Anglia In England, and/or climate change science.”

It would be interesting to watch Phil Jones being cross-examined in the US Federal Court.

Any Torture Garden attendees? My boyfriend and I had people we used to go with but due to the fact people should NEVER move in with friends who own the house we now kinda don't. It's still fun but less fun to club as a duo than a group. We'll be going to NYE and go to most of them so it'd be lovely to have some company. I'd ask at the forum but, well we want mates not sexytimes so I figured a neutral setting might be better to ask? :)

08:53 pm - did anyone see this?
from the bbc news website:
A Christmas card has been withdrawn from two Tesco stores in York after complaints that it makes fun of children with ginger hair. The card shows a child with ginger hair sitting on the lap of Santa Claus, and the words: "Santa loves all kids. Even ginger ones."

appalling! i don't understand this country's negativity about people with red hair. to me, judging someone on their hair colour is EXACTLY the same as judging someone on their skin colour, and if that card instead read "Santa loves all kids. Even black ones." the world would go mad!!

Wonder why so many laptop makers make their devices with the touchpad on the left side?
I had Samsung laptop once (Hail Samsung!) and I couldn’t help thanking them for left side mouse.
Do non-samsung makers really believe that we all are or will someday be a left handed ones?

When I first came to UK I couldn’t help feeling that it way looked like a toy country.
Everything seemed to be small, shiny and toy like as in a theatre. Even double deck buses seemed to be not as big as they were 

It is terribly hot in my office. God knows why they have to heat it up so much! Yesterday I had to open up my window (in December!) to cool myself down and ended up with severe back pain.

Mind you it is either too hot or too cold. When the wind blows (and it gets very windy on the 12th floor) I have to back off the window and turn on the heater.

It is either this or that.

I read a book a few years ago about a group of people who lived on the rooftops in London and moved about through a series of pullies and ropes and such, but I am at a loss as to what it was called. I have googled all sorts of combinations of words to try and find it again, but to no avail. Does this ring a bell to anyone?
